Our Mission StatementTo provide safe, sound, full service community banking to Aurora, Missouri, and surrounding trade areas at a competitive price while maintaining a level of profit that provides the owners with a reasonable return on investment and maintain adequate capital for future growth. To provide supportive working environment for employees and to foster an atmosphere of teamwork while recognizing that employees are our most valuable assets. To reinvest in the local market areas in order to further the area’s educational, economic, and social goals. Our HistoryFirst Independent Bank (FIB) began as the Bank of Seligman on August 31, 1905 and officially opened its doors for business on January 1, 1906. Through the major events of World War I, The Great Depression, World War II, the Korean War, and nine different U.S. Presidents, the bank continued to operate. The bank’s original charter was renewed by the State of Missouri in 1954, allowing the bank to continue to grow and serve the community. Then, on September 1, 1993, the Bank of Seligman was renamed First Independent Bank. With a branch established in Washburn, Missouri, FIB expanded and opened a branch in Aurora, Missouri on March 15, 1994 in a temporary location. Three years later, 1100 South Elliott became home to the bank, and in 2002 became FIB’s main office. The Seligman and Washburn locations were sold a year later, making the Aurora facility FIB’s only location. First Independent Bank still holds true to the personal, independent, community-minded approach to banking. Our values and our customers are the reason we operate today!
